If you’ve created a custom design using multiple objects—like illustrations, text, or shapes—you can save that selection as a reusable element. This makes it easier to use the same grouping across different templates without rebuilding it every time.
How to Save a Selection as a New Element
-
Select the Objects
-
Use click and drag to select everything at once, or
-
Hold down Shift and click each object one by one.
-
-
Group (Optional)
-
You can group the objects using the Group button in the toolbar if you want them to stay together.
-
-
Right-Click the Selection
-
With all items selected, right-click and hover over “Save as new element.”
-
You’ll see two options:
-
Save as editable element – Keeps the layers and styles intact, so they can still be edited later.
-
Save as image – Flattens the selection into a single image, which is not editable after saving.
-
-
-
Name & Tag Your Element
-
Give it a clear name and add relevant tags so you can find it easily later.
-
-
Save
-
Click Save to finish. Your new element will now appear in the My Elements tab for future use.
-
Tip for Using SVGs
If your saved selection includes SVG elements and you choose “Save as editable element”, they may not remain editable in grouped form.
To make SVG colors editable again:
-
Add the element to your template
-
Ungroup it after placing it
